Senegal – Riu Baobab shines on the coast
Senegal is an enchanting destination on the west coast of Africa, known for its rich culture, welcoming people, and beautiful beaches. For those seeking a luxurious holiday experience with an exotic touch, the Hotel Riu Baobab in Pointe Sarène offers the ideal base. This five-star resort combines comfort with African charm and is located directly on the beach.

Opening in 2021, the Hotel Riu Baobab is the RIU chain’s first hotel in Senegal. Located approximately 50 km from Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar, the transfer to the resort takes about an hour. The resort features more than 500 stylish rooms, including family rooms and adults-only swim-up rooms with private pools. Guests can enjoy 24-hour all-inclusive service with a variety of food and beverage options, including four buffet restaurants (Asian, Italian, international, and grill) and five bars, including a swim-up bar.

For water fun, there’s the Splash Water World water park, ideal for families, and four outdoor pools with sunbeds and parasols. The hotel also offers a wellness center, a fitness center, various sports activities such as beach volleyball and kayaking, and daily entertainment with live music and a disco. The new complex is surrounded by large gardens with a total of 25 baobabs, the national tree that has become the symbol of the country and from which the hotel takes its name.

The design and decor pay tribute to Senegalese tradition. This is reflected in the use of natural materials, such as dark woods and stone finishes. The earthy color palette exudes the warmth of the surroundings. The hotel features figures and masks typical of the local culture, which, together with the other decorative elements, allow guests to breathe in the essence of Africa during their stay.

Besides relaxing at the hotel, there are several attractions in the surrounding area. The Bandia Nature Reserve, a short distance from the hotel, offers the opportunity to spot wildlife such as giraffes and rhinoceroses. Gorée Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a rich history, is also highly recommended. For nature lovers, the Sine-Saloum Delta National Park is a wonderful place to discover Senegal’s unique flora and fauna.
