Iceland – Escape into the silence of nature

Along Iceland’s rugged west coast, nestled in nature and far from the hustle and bustle, lies Langholt Lodge, part of Nordic Lodges. This charming lodge, sleeping five, is an ideal spot for travelers who want to slow down and truly immerse themselves in the Icelandic landscape. Its location is unique: nestled in nature, surrounded by open plains, mountains, and the tranquility so characteristic of this region.

The stunning view from the terrace is immediately striking upon arrival. Here, you’ll find a wonderful hot tub where you can completely unwind after a day of exploring, while gazing out over the landscape, which changes color throughout the day. The barbecue also makes the terrace a wonderful place to spend long evenings outdoors, especially during the bright Icelandic summer evenings or under a starry sky.

Inside the lodge, the abundance of natural light is particularly striking. Large windows literally let the landscape in, creating an open and warm atmosphere. The lodge features comfortable bedrooms where you can relax after an active day. With a single, well-equipped bathroom, the accommodation remains compact and cozy, perfectly suited to the character of a cozy natural retreat.

The area surrounding Langholt Lodge also offers wonderful opportunities for excursions. The impressive Glymur Waterfall, long known as Iceland’s highest waterfall, is just a short distance away. The walk there is an experience in itself: an adventurous hike along cliffs, rivers, and expansive views over the fjord. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with a spectacular panorama and the impressive view of the cascading water.

After such an active day, a visit to Krauma Geothermal Baths is highly recommended. This modern wellness complex combines the warm, 100-degree water of the powerful Deildartunguhver hot spring with cool glacier water, resulting in various baths with varying temperatures. You can leisurely alternate between warm and cooler baths while enjoying views of the surrounding landscape.

Inside, you’ll also find a wonderfully quiet relaxation area, perfect for completely unwinding. Krauma’s restaurant is surprisingly good and completes the experience. Highly recommended are the Krauma platter, ideal for sampling different flavors like marinated goat and smoked salmon, and the Icelandic salmon, simply yet perfectly cooked in the oven. Combined with the relaxed atmosphere, Krauma makes the perfect ending to a day in this beautiful region of Iceland.

Besides the Golden Circle, Iceland also boasts a Silver Circle. An hour’s drive from Langholt Lodge lies the enchanting Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. Hraunfossar isn’t a typical waterfall, but a series of streams flowing like rivers from a lava field. Just a few hundred meters away, Barnafoss, a slightly wilder waterfall, roars. Together, they create a breathtaking contrast of beauty and power. The capital, Reykjavik, is also exactly an hour from the lodge and makes a perfect day trip.
